New card using Bokeh technique

Hi there!

Today I would like to share with you my new card, which uses also a new technique. It is called Bokeh technique and might be familiar to you already as it is usually seen in photography. From definition bokeh is the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens or simply a blur or out of focus areas of the image. Bokeh is usually defined as “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light”. Here are a few examples:

So now you know what that technique means, let’s see how it looks on a card! I found this really cool tutorial from Stampin’ Up! on Pinterest, and decided to give it a try!

Basically what you have to do is:

1. Use watercolour paper

2. With your paint brush smudge water all over it

3. Use water colour paint OR your distress (or other kind of inks) and press them against you acrylic block and splash with water

4. With your brush touch the colours you want to use all over your watercolour paper until it is fully covered and let it dry, (you can use you heating tool but I would not advise it as you can get watermarks on the edges, just like on my card:-/)

5. Use a different size circle stencil OR (make your own circle stencil by die cutting different sizes of circles on card stock or acetate !! great money saver and you can get more of out your dies!

6. Use white pigment ink and a blending tool and add your ink all over your already dry!! card (or just press your ink pad against the circle areas)

YOUR CARD IS READY! 🙂 super awesome technique and so easy too!

Here is my result, I will definitely be trying this technique again!

  2. Why have I still not tried this technique?? Especially when it turn out as dreamy as your card. This reminds me of peaches and plums with all those beautiful colours. Absolutely love it!!

Piękna i taka powietrzna…
    Pozdrawiam,
